‘Announce Chair’, ‘Chair next please’ – These QPR fans call for player to be granted new deal
QPR fans have demanded that the club secure the future of Ilias Chair after somewhat sabotaging the club’s announcement of Charlie Owens’ own contract extension.
Owens signed a new two-year deal on Thursday with an option of a further year, but it was Moroccan youngster Chair that was on fans’ lips as supporters called for the 21-year-old, who scored in Tuesday’s shootout win against Bristol City in the Carabao Cup, to be given a new contract himself.
Chair joined the club in 2017, and following a promising loan spell at Stevenage last season, the versatile forward marked his return to the R’s lineup with a goal on his first start in midweek, putting QPR in front in a see-saw clash with their Championship rivals – ending the evening as the man of the match.
His performance was lauded on Twitter by the fans, and it seems they have followed it up with calls for the wonderkid to commit his long-term future to the Hoops.
While Owens did not go totally unnoticed after sealing his QPR future, it was Chair that dominated the replies to the announcement:
