Queens Park Rangers: Journalist gives update on key players’ contracts, including Ebere Eze - Championship

QPR fans have been given a big boost after local journalist David McIntrye notified Hoops fans on three contract situations.

When quizzed by some fans about the future of youngsters Eberechi Eze, Ryan Manning and Bright Osayi-Samuel, the reporter confirmed that they all have additional one-year extensions available to the club, meaning that Manning and Osayi-Samuel’s deals – which are due to expire at the end of the season – can be extended to the season afterwards.

Eze’s deal is due to expire in the summer of 2021, but the club have the option of prolonging it until 2022, as you can see from the tweets below:

Things are going well for QPR so far this season. Mark Warburton’s side are currently fifth in the division having won five of their opening eight games.

The three names mentioned by McIntrye have all been on great form this season, and are all under the age of 23 – so that security of the extra season should put fans’ minds at ease for the time being, and also help the players stay concentrated on their football for the upcoming season.

The additional year on Eze’s deal might not be as pressing as the others as his contract is not set to expire at the end of the season, but it is just as important nonetheless. With Eze essentially having another two seasons on his deal at the end of this campaign, QPR should have a much stronger mandate when approaching potential buying clubs.

Obviously, QPR would rather keep the player at the club altogether, but with alleged Premier League interest, that might be nigh on impossible if the club do not get promoted and a bigger club comes calling.

Eze, 21, has been fantastic this season, as backed up by stats from WhoScored. Not only does he lead the squad with the highest average match rating of 7.5/10, but he also has an impeccable passing percentage rate of 90.4 per cent, as well as average a hefty 2.9 shots per game.

Teammates Manning and Osayi-Samuel – who was reportedly close to a new deal earlier this month – also have impressive stats. Manning averages the third-highest average rating in the squad with 7.21, while Osayi-Samuel is seventh with a 6.63 rating.

This is great news for QPR and fans alike as it with some of their youngsters’ futures being attended to.

Eze and Manning have been vital players for the club and Osayi-Samuel is showing promise, so if QPR are going to stay in and around those play-off spots, then they may need all three firing.

QPR fans, are you pleased with this news? How important is it that these players extend their current deals? Let us know in the comments below!
