Sheffield United: Blades fans react on Twitter to Oliver McBurnie links - Championship

After seeing their side struggle to escape the abyss of lower league football for several years, Sheffield United supporters must be elated about the prospect of playing the likes of Manchester City and Liverpool in the Premier League next season.

Since the Blades decided to appoint Chris Wilder as Nigel Adkins’ replacement in 2016, the club has been totally transformed as his distinctive style of play has allowed him to secure two promotions in three seasons at Bramall Lane.

Yet despite already guaranteeing cult hero status at United, the 51-year-old will want to add to his legacy by successfully building a squad that can compete in the top-flight.

With a busy summer of transfer activity ahead for the Blades, it is hardly surprising that they have already been linked with a move for one of the Championship’s most exciting young forwards.

According to The Sun (as quoted by HITC), United are reportedly interested in signing Oliver McBurnie from Swansea City and have been quoted a fee of £12m by the Welsh side.

Arguably the Jacks’ best player during the 2018/19 campaign, the England-born ace fired in an impressive total of 24 goals in all competitions and looks more than ready to make the step up in level next season.

Reacting to the news that their side are reportedly in the running to secure the services of the Swansea forward on Twitter, some Blades fans were excited by the prospect of McBurnie joining their side.

Although Wilder already has the deadly attacking duo of Billy Sharp and David McGoldrick at his disposal, McBurnie would undoubtedly be a great addition to his side if he can convince the 22-year-old to leave the Liberty Stadium.
