Sheffield Wednesday: Fans can’t believe Barry Bannan wasn’t in Scotland squad

Scotland suffered a humbling 4-0 defeat at the hands of Russia in a Euro 2020 qualifier on Thursday.
Who is the better coach, Garry Monk or Steve Bruce?
Monk

Bruce

Steve Clarke’s side conceded all four goals in the second half at the Luzhniki Stadium, and it was another extremely disappointing performance from them.
The result means that Scotland can no longer qualify for Euro 2020 automatically, and leaves them with just six points from seven matches in this qualifying campaign. They will now be relying on coming through the play-offs in order to reach the tournament next summer.
There were plenty of poor performances on the night from the players, but one who wasn’t involved to the surprise of a few was Barry Bannan.
The midfielder has played 27 times for Scotland but hasn’t featured in the squad since the end of the 2018 World Cup qualifying campaign (via Transfermarkt).
He has made a good start to the current season with Sheffield Wednesday though, providing three assists in the Championship and helping his club remain in touch with the play-off spots.
After posting a message of support for his country on Twitter prior to the game against Russia, many Owls fans responded suggesting that they would be a lot better off with Bannan in the side…
