Sheffield Wednesday fans have been impressed with how Dominic Iorfa has been performing at centre-back in recent weeks.

The former Wolves man arrived at Hillsborough in January 2019, and as he did at his former clubs, he initially played at right-back (Transfermarkt).

However, when Tom Lees suffered a hamstring injury in the warm-up prior to the Owls’ game against QPR at Loftus Road in August (Sheffield Star), Iorfa was moved to centre-back to fill the void.

Fans may have been concerned about this given that it was not considered his natural position, but he has taken to it like a duck to water and looks extremely comfortable at the heart of defence.

So far the 24-year-old has played nine matches at centre-back for Sheffield Wednesday this season and has helped them keep four clean sheets in that time (via Transfermarkt).

His latest impressive performance came against Leeds United on Saturday, where he partnered another out of position centre-back in Sam Hutchinson, but they still managed to keep a clean sheet and draw the game 0-0 (via BBC Sport).

He made three clearances, two interceptions and two successful tackles against the Whites, finishing with a WhoScored rating of 7.09.
