Sheffield Wednesday: Fans want Adam Reach to be dropped after Blackburn defeat

Sheffield Wednesday fell to a heartbreaking late defeat against Blackburn Rovers on Saturday, going down 2-1 at Ewood Park (via BBC Sport).

The Owls had taken the lead thanks to a Jacob Murphy strike, but goals from Tosin Adarabioyo in the 88th minute and John Buckley in the 91st minute sealed all three points for the Lancashire side.

Defeat saw Garry Monk’s side drop down to seventh in the Championship table, four points adrift of the automatic promotion places (BBC Sport).

Plenty of players were not at their best for Sheffield Wednesday on the day, but one who was singled out for specific criticism was winger Adam Reach.

The 26-year-old was not at his best against Rovers, and the stats back that statement up. Indeed, he completed zero successful dribbles, played just one accurate cross and managed just 23 touches of the ball before being substituted in the 69th minute, ultimately finishing with a meagre match rating of 6.28 (via WhoScored).

Reach has now gone four games without registering either a goal or an assist (Transfermarkt) and, as a result of his poor form, several Owls supporters are struggling to see what he offers to the team.

Following the defeat against Blackburn, some fans took to Twitter to slate the winger’s performance, with a few suggesting that he should be dropped from the starting 11…
