Sheffield Wednesday: Fans want Jordan Rhodes in first team after under-23’s goal

Jordan Rhodes made an appearance in the Sheffield Wednesday under-23 side on Monday as they took on Burnley (via swfc.co.uk).
Does Monk need to turn to Jordan Rhodes?
Yes

No

The Owls drew the game 1-1, and it was the former Huddersfield Town and Blackburn Rovers striker who scored their only goal of the game.
It has been a tough season for Rhodes, who has so far failed to force his way into Garry Monk’s first-team plans. Indeed, he has made just three substitute appearances in the Championship so far, amounting to just 60 minutes on the pitch (via Transfermarkt).
He spent last season on loan at Norwich City, and when a permanent move away from Hillsborough failed to materialise in the summer he has been forced to sit behind the likes of Steven Fletcher, Atdhe Nuhiu and Fernando Forestieri in the pecking order.
However, after seeing that he made a goalscoring appearance for the Owls’ youth side, many Sheffield Wednesday fans are calling for the 29-year-old to be given another chance in the first team.
Despite a solid start to the campaign – they sit seventh after 15 games – they are the joint lowest scorers in the top 11 (BBC Sport) and some supporters believe that Rhodes could give them more of a cutting edge.
Here is what some said on Twitter…
We have to start with him with fletcher and give him 6 game min to get sharper and give him the service he needs

Been saying a while start Rhodes and he will get 30-35 goals in this league. Hes knocked them in for clubs that cant create. With our wing strength he would be on 15 by now at least. Surely now is the time for Monk to start him. #swfc

Stand by what I said at start of season. Rhodes scores goals in this current Wednesday team. The team this season has the players and is set up to suit his game more than any other set up since he’s been at the club. Just needs a run in the team.
