Sheffield Wednesday: Owls fans react to Adam Reach’s award snub

When Adam Reach fired in an outrageous strike against Leeds United for Sheffield Wednesday last September, it would have been brave to suggest that anyone else could challenge him for the Goal of the Season award this year.
However, the Owls’ ability to produced the spectacular during this campaign has seen them score a number of incredible goals with Barry Bannan, Fernando Forestieri and Lucas Joao all producing moments of magic for their side.
With the supporters given the chance to vote for their favourite finish by the club during the 2018/19 campaign, it sparked an intriguing contrast in opinions about who should win.
Although Reach’s volley was undoubtedly sublime, Forestieri’s inspired long-ranged effort against Norwich City on April was ultimately victorious having received 59% of the vote (via the club’s official website).
Reacting to the news that the 26-year-old had been edged out by the Italian on Twitter, these Wednesday fans expressed their disappointment at the decision.
Awww poor @AdamReach he thought he had it in the bag, then @Forestieri45 pops up at the end of the season with an absolute SCREAMER

We’ve seen some absolute belters this season, fair play. Couldn’t separate this or Reach v Leeds to be fair. Both sensational.

A fantastic goal albeit for me @AdamReach vs Leeds just clinched it! Got my vote
Both #screamers but perhaps fans remember current goals!
Well done @Forestieri45— Stacey (@staceylaing) April 29, 2019

Well done Fessi. Thought Reach v Leeds myself but both screamers.

Congratulations to Fessi quite some choice of goals to choose from this season.
Still think Reach versus Leeds was better though, In a local derby and the audacity and precision to missile that into the top corner of Leeds’ goal absolutely out of leftfield was incredible #swfc

Despite being snubbed for the award, Reach will take comfort from being one of the club’s outstanding performers this season. The winger’s contributions for Wednesday has seen him be directly involved in 15 goals over the past nine months.
Reach will be hoping to end the campaign on a high when Steve Bruce’s side host Queens Park Rangers at Hillsborough on Sunday.
