Sheffield Wednesday will need to improve on their recent run of results if they are to climb up the Championship table, having won only one of their last four Championship fixtures.
The Owls will be hoping that they can finally enjoy a positive run of form with Steve Bruce at the helm after a frustrating first half of the season under former boss Jos Luhukay.
Of course, the Englishman will need to dip into the January transfer market to secure a couple of players in order to improve what is a rather average squad at Hillsborough. So, with Bruce possibly already weighing up a few transfer targets, he’ll be hoping that Dejphon Chansiri can help him get the business done.
With that in mind, here’re TWO players Sheffield Wednesday would be mad not to try and sign soon…
Efe Ambrose is currently a free agent after his contract with Scottish side Hibernian ended.
The former Celtic man operates as a central defender or at right-back, which are two positions that the Owls would definitely accept reinforcements in.
He’s very dominant on the ball as he uses his strength and power to get the better of the opposition’s attackers, as well as making use of his aerial and tackling ability, so he could be a solid back-up option.
Sheffield Wednesday are quite limited for numbers in the middle of midfield and George Boyd hasn’t exactly set the Championship alight with his performances this season.
Alex Mowatt has established himself as one of the standout performers in League One in the current campaign, with four goals and seven assists to his name, so he definitely deserves a move up the Football League ladder. His ability to create and thread the final pass is something that has been missing for the Owls this season.
