Sheffield Wednesday fans here in the Tavern want to see improvements in the next campaign after finishing in the bottom half of the table.
Jos Luhukay’s side enjoyed a strong second half of the season as their strikers were firing on all cylinders. Although, preparation for the next campaign will be key, with other areas in the side requiring improvement.
It’s important that the Owls don’t change too much from the last campaign as Luhukay had them performing how he wanted and heading in the right direction.
Interestingly, the month of July could be one of the best yet for Sheffield Wednesday as they could launch themselves into promotion contention by bringing in a couple of quality players.
Without further ado, here’s TWO things that supporters would be delighted with…
Sheffield Wednesday have been linked with a move for former Preston North End striker Jordan Hugill.
Jordan Rhodes has been linked with a move away from time to time and disappointed many of our local residents in the last campaign, so the Owls may be able to create an unstoppable attack by playing Hugill alongside the likes of Atdhe Nuhiu and Lucas Joao.
July could be the best month that fans have ever come to witness if they manage to land the West Ham striker, as he’s already shown he can score goals in the Championship and could possible fire them into the Premier League.
Venancio signs permanently
Sheffield Wednesday are reportedly locked in talks with Vitoria de Setubal over the permanent signing of defender Frederico Venancio.
Venancio spent last season on loan at Sheffield Wednesday and impressed in the 25 games he played, convincing them to launch a permanent move for him.
The Owls looked rather shaky last season as they were faced with a number of defensive issues, but one of their standout performers was Frederico Venancio. So, it’s vital that Luhukay secures the services of the defender as other clubs may be lining up a move if the Owls fail to get a deal done quickly.
Therefore, capturing the impressive 25-year-old would put them in great stead heading into the new campaign.
