Lucas Joao must start for Sheffield Wednesday against Ipswich

Sheffield Wednesday haven’t enjoyed the best of starts this season as they look to have lost their way under Jos Luhukay.

The Owls showed moments of promise towards the end of last season and would have been looking to carry some of that momentum into the current campaign. But, things haven’t worked out that way as they appear to be slipping towards the bottom of the table, with very little to show for their efforts so far.

And, things aren’t about to get any easier for Sheffield Wednesday as they welcome Paul Hurst’s Ipswich Town to Hillsborough. The Tractor Boys are still searching for their first win of the campaign, but they have secured a point against a couple of impressive sides.

Interestingly, one man who is yet to start a game for the Owls so far this season is Lucas Joao, who was one of Sheffield Wednesday’s standout performers in the last campaign.

Jos Luhukay has turned to Steven Fletcher, Atdhe Nuhiu and Fernando Forestieri in the Championship so far this season, as Joao has had to settle for a place on the substitutes’ bench and has suffered through injury recently.

But, he could be in line for his first start this season against Ipswich Town as Luhukay will look to Joao and Nuhiu for goals at the pinnacle of the attack. Indeed, the tall Portuguese forward managed to notch himself nine goals and provided four assists over the course of the last campaign, with an even better season expected this time around.
