The club was formed in 1867, originally being named 'The Wednesday' - what was the reason for the name?

With football at a standstill at present due to the recent pandemic, fans have been engaging with each other via social media, and they have now taken a look at some of the club’s most recent failed transfers.

YorkshireLIVE journalist Dom Howson produced an article based on the 12 most bizarre signings for Wednesday of the last decade, and included were some names Wednesday fans may have forgotten.

David Kasnik, Nejc Pecnik, Diogo Amado, Rafael Floro, Andelko Savic, Dejan Kelhar, Gary Taylor-Fletcher, Sergiu Bus, Filipe Melo, Darryl Lachman and Urby Emanuelson were all included on the list.

Those aforementioned players failed to make an impact at Hillsborough, leaving little impressions on fans of the club.

Responding to Howson’s tweet on the article via his Twitter account, fans looked back on those players on the list…
