Sheffield Wednesday: Fans discuss expiring contracts and potential 2020/2021 squad plans - Sheffield Wednesday

Many Sheffield Wednesday fans have reacted to a report from the Sheffield Star revealing the first team players they think will remain at the club through to next season.

After a largely impressive start to the Championship season, Garry Monk’s side have struggled for form since the turn of 2020 and have ultimately dropped out of the play-off places to 15th in the league standings (BBC Sport).

It has proved to be a frustrating couple of months for the Owls and with form failing to improve, the Yorkshire club find themselves closer to the relegation places, sitting nine points off the bottom three.

With such poor form, it seems that the club will undergo a drastic change over the summer with a number of players seeing their contracts come to an end and the club looking to trim down their wage bill.

Fernando Forestieri and Sam Hutchinson are two players that will see their current contracts expire, whilst Morgan Fox and Steven Fletcher’s futures also hang in the balance.

Sheffield Star have claimed via their website and Twitter that the club could be left with just 16 players for the 2020/2021 season.

Fans of the club have now been replying to the media outlet’s tweet, and below are some of the responses…
