An image of a retro Sheffield Wednesday shirt is doing the rounds on Twitter and has got many Owls fans going wild.
The football shirt collector Twitter account @1505football has posted an image of the Yorkshire outfit’s 1990-92 away kit and many fans are loving it.
Would you like to see James Beattie join the Wednesday backroom staff?
Wednesday had some great performances during this era, including their 1991 League Cup win and their promotion to the First Division in the same year (as per swfc.co.uk). The Owls stayed in the top flight for a long period until relegation from the Premier League in 2000. [via Transfermarkt]
This season is a huge contrast from these earlier glory days. Sheffield Wednesday are currently 15th in the Championship after losing 15 league matches under Garry Monk this term (as per Transfermarkt).
Loads of Wednesdayites have flocked to the image of the retro shirt and are drooling over it. One fan has said that it is their ‘favourite of all time’ whilst another is marvelling at its ‘beauty’. Check out further reaction from the Hillsborough faithful below:
