Sheffield Wednesday: Fans praise Cameron Dawson after save against Stoke

Sheffield Wednesday secured a 1-0 win against Stoke City at Hillsborough on Tuesday (via BBC Sport).

The Owls sealed three points thanks to a goal from Massimo Luongo just before half-time, and the result leaves them in third place in the Championship table at the time of writing (BBC Sport).

Whilst Luongo will get the headlines for his match-winning goal, plenty of Sheffield Wednesday supporters were left praising goalkeeper Cameron Dawson for his contribution in the game.

The 24-year-old was largely untroubled as Stoke managed just one shot on target in the entire match (via BBC Sport).

However, that one chance did force Dawson into an absolutely brilliant save. Lee Gregory found himself free just a few yards from goal, and managed to get his header low down and on target. However the goalkeeper managed to get down and palm it away with his left hand, securing three points for the Owls (via @L0RD_H).

Dawson was only making his sixth appearance of the season (WhoScored), replacing regular number one Keiren Westwood. But he certainly impressed and his performance will give Garry Monk confidence that he has an able deputy in his squad.
