Sheffield Wednesday: Fans react to footage of Brighton play-off game - Sheffield Wednesday

Loads of Sheffield Wednesday supporters have been reacting to footage posted by the club’s official Twitter account, showing one of their goals in a famous play-off victory against Brighton & Hove Albion back in 2016.

It was the first of two legs played against the Seagulls and the Owls managed to win 2-0 (BBC Sport). Ross Wallace had opened the scoring with a terrific goal from 25 yards out, before Kieran Lee’s strike put the South Yorkshire side firmly in the driving seat.

And it was Lee’s goal that the Sheffield Wednesday social media team opted to post on Saturday, getting many of their fans reminiscing about one of the best nights in their recent history.

They went on to draw the second leg at the AMEX 1-1 with Wallace again on the scoresheet, cancelling out Lewis Dunk’s opener (BBC Sport). However, the season ultimately ended in heartbreak at Wembley when Carlos Carvalhal’s men were beaten 1-0 in the final by Hull City (Sky Sports).

Nevertheless many Owls fans still look back fondly on the game at Hillsborough against Brighton, with one describing it as an ‘amazing night‘.

Here is how some reacted to the footage on Twitter…
