Sheffield Wednesday striker Steven Fletcher has been named as the club’s official Player of the Month for September.
The Scotland international won the award on the back of a vote by Owls supporters. He received 31% of the votes, with centre-back Julian Borner (19%) and Atdhe Nuhiu (14%) finishing in second and third respectively.
September was definitely a good month for Fletcher, who made vital contributions as the Owls began life under new manager Garry Monk.
He made the perfect start to the month, scoring a header from point-blank range to help the South Yorkshire club secure a 2-0 win away at Huddersfield Town. The former Burnley and Sunderland man then finished the month in style, netting his second goal in three league appearances in a 4-1 victory away at Middlesbrough (via Soccerbase).
His importance to the team was made clear on Tuesday, when he missed their defeat against Hull City with a minor injury. Without him, the Owls struggled going forward as they failed to score in a 1-0 defeat at the KCOM Stadium.
The club announced that Fletcher had won the award on Twitter, and several Sheffield Wednesday fans were quick to agree with the decision and offer their praise to the 32-year-old.
Here is what some Owls fans had to say following the announcement…

Great top 3 percentages. Shows how close it was, but Fletch has been immense.
