Eight years ago yesterday, Sheffield Wednesday beat Wycombe 2-0 and secured their automatic promotion into the Championship after spending two seasons in League One.
Many Owls fans relived that pleasant moment as they looked back at the Hillsborough celebrations that unfolded following their promotion to the second tier of English football.
Goals from Michail Antonio and Nile Ranger helped brush aside their opponents and secure second place in the table to win themselves automatic promotion (via BBC Sport). After they worked their way back into the Championship following that 2011/12 season, Wednesday haven’t looked back and have reached the play-offs twice since (via Transfermarkt).
After Dom Howson tweeted asking Owls fans what they remember from the day, many are reminiscing on the moment they knew they would be going up. Plenty have very fond memories of the celebrations that followed the full-time whistle. One supporter has said that it was the ‘best day of being a Wednesday fan’ for them.
Brilliant day, don't think I've ever run as quick as I did to get to the tunnel when the final whistle went! Absolute scenes!

Looking around the Kopfrom where I sit near back, and it was just a mass of movement. No empty seats beach balls.. Dingys.. Blow up bananas etc, and after game looking at fans on the pitch and the stands were still full.
