Sheffield Wednesday: Fans tear into Alessio Da Cruz on Twitter after poor showing

Whilst witnessing Sheffield Wednesday get trounced at home against Reading on Saturday afternoon, a number of the Wednesdaynites took to Twitter to vent their frustrations at Alessio Da Cruz following his most recent outing for the club.
The Hillsborough outfit’s poor form in the Championship continued as Garry Monk’s side slumped to a six-game stretch at the hands of the Royals and has meant the Owls now sit nine points adrift of the play-off spots (per BBC).
Indeed, fans would have been fuming with what they witnessed however it seems the poor display of Da Cruz caught the eye of some on social media, with a few of them leaving some rather negative remarks.
The attacking wide-right midfielder, who joined the club in January on loan from Parma, certainly did not have the most influential of 55 minutes whilst on the field, as the data from WhoScored evidently supports. Figures reveal the 23-year-old only managed to complete two dribbles as he was dispossessed on five separate occasions, making just one tackle and one interception whilst being blown up four times for making fouls.
One supporter claimed Da Cruz was “far inadequate for the Championship” whilst another said he was the “worst footballer” he had seen in years.
Here are just some of their reactions…
Gonna call it early too. Da Cruz is another Bonvin, Rhodri etc. His anticipation levels are far inadequate for the championship. He must think all his Christmases have come at once #swfc

Well, Murphy has showm (me at least) that he is twice and more the player than Da Cruz… Should always start with what we have? #swfc
