Sheffield Wednesday: Fans want new contract for Cameron Dawson amid transfer interest

Plenty of Sheffield Wednesday supporters want to see goalkeeper Cameron Dawson given a new contract at Hillsborough.

This comes as a result of a report from the Sheffield Star, which claims that several Championship clubs including Derby County, Blackburn Rovers and Preston North End are interested in signing the shot-stopper.

Dawson’s contract with the Owls is set to expire at the end of the current campaign (Transfermarkt), so would be able to leave on a free transfer next summer.

The 24-year-old is currently the second choice goalkeeper at Sheffield Wednesday, behind Republic of Ireland international Keiren Westwood.

He has therefore not featured in the first team very often this term, making just three starts and one substitute appearance in the Championship (via WhoScored).

However, despite his lack of game time it appears that most Owls fans still rate him highly, and they want the club to agree fresh terms with Dawson in order to fend off interest.

Here is what some supporters had to say after learning of the reported interest in Dawson from other clubs…
