Many Sheffield Wednesday fans were left gushing over the performance of Tom Lees on Saturday after the skipper helped his side see off Charlton Athletic in Saturday’s early kick-off.

The Owls managed to record a 3-1 victory at The Valley as they made the early start in the capital one they could enjoy with a brace from Steven Fletcher and one from Atdhe Nuhiu (BBC).
However, whilst they would, perhaps, deserve their fair share of the plaudits from the game, it would appear many of the club’s faithful had noticed the solid work that Lees had put in at the back, with the 29-year-old putting in an emphatic shift.
According to data collected by WhoScored, the centre-back made just two tackles, however he was in the right position at the right times for Garry Monk’s side as he managed to make an outstanding 11 clearances and win four aerial balls.
Sheffield Wednesday’s official Twitter page shared an image of their captain praising him for his efforts, which was shortly followed by a lot of the Hillsborough-based outfit’s supporters, with many delighted with what they had seen from Lees.
Here are just some of their reactions…
Very good game…just hope he doesn’t try any more back passes tho
