Lee Bullen was understandably delighted after his Sheffield Wednesday side beat Luton Town 1-0 on Tuesday night.
His side withstood a tough test against the Hatters and came out with a 1-0 victory thanks to a Kadeem Harris goal in the 54th minute.
Speaking after the game, as quoted in The Star, Bullen said: “I am living the dream. I am enjoying what I am doing and the players seem to be enjoying themselves at the moment.”
However, he didn’t entertain talk of him taking on the role full-time: “I am not going to get caught up in that type of thing, what will be will be. I am not focused on that at all. All I am focused on is trying to pick a team to get a result at Preston on Saturday.”
Bullen has already dealt with different types of challenges this season and – at least temporarily – has Sheffield Wednesday top of the table.
Under his stewardship, the Owls beat Reading 3-1 and then went on to beat Barnsley 2-0, keeping a clean sheet despite having Keiran Westwood suspended for the latter of those games.
Then Wednesday’s Carabao Cup game against Bury was postponed and while the League One side’s financial situation is a far more important and pressing matter, this did disrupt Bullen’s plans, as outlined by The Star.
There was then the loss against Millwall, which the side bounced back from with their 1-0 home victory against Luton.
A resilience was shown against the Hatters, as the away side had more shots, possession, corners and a superior pass success rate, as per WhoScored, but it was still the Owls who came away with the result.
Bullen has done a terrific job in helping Sheffield Wednesday get over Steve Bruce’s controversial departure and that has been shown in the results under him.
He may not be entertaining talk of getting the role full-time, but there should be plenty of discussion about it behind the scenes, as he has shown he deserves it while living the dream.
