Sheffield Wednesday picked up a vital win last time out but they still need to make some improvements during the January transfer window to ensure they steer well clear of relegation.
That shouldn’t be an issue with Steve Bruce soon to take charge but what’s stopping Sheffield Wednesday from potentially kicking on for the rest of the campaign?
Well if they made the right signings during the January transfer window, nothing in all honesty.
The club has good foundations and a solid current set of players, now all they need is a bit more spark to surge them forwards in the table.
A player that could do just that and would be a brilliant buy for the Owls is Peterborough’s Marcus Maddison.
Maddison, (who is valued at £675k on Transfermarkt) has been in exceptional form for his League One side this season and would be a massive coup for Sheffield Wednesday to brag about.
The 25-year-old has a stunning return of three goals and 16 assists this season, demonstrating he is the man to add more goals to the joint-sixth lowest scorers in the Championship.
With experienced heads up-front, Maddison could be the link and the missing piece to make goals a lot easier to come by.
Adam Reach was linked with a move away (as per The Daily Star via HITC) but Sheffield Wednesday can be hopeful in keeping him and then Marcus Maddison joining what is already a solid midfield.
Hillsborough would surely be a much happier place with the likes of Maddison joining and what a difference it could make for their season.
Is Marcus Maddison the missing part of the puzzle for Sheffield Wednesday… Let us know!
