Sheffield Wednesday will most certainly be a lot happier as a collective under the guidance of Steve Bruce.
The former Villa man has come in and, straight away, not only steadied their form, but the Owls are on a solid run as a club under his experienced stewardship.
Indeed, players are performing well under their new manager and that leads to great optimism ahead of next season, where given the summer transfer window, Steve Bruce could make a real difference to their side.
Sheffield Wednesday haven’t been in the top flight since 2000 and that is a record the fans will be oh so desperate to see change, having waited far too long considering the size of the Steel City outfit.
Now, the best way to induce such a change is to allow Steve Bruce to make the changes he needs in order to better his side.
With that in mind, a striker who could make all the difference next season is Crystal Palace’, Connor Wickham.
Wickham, (who is valued at £3.1 million on Transfermarkt) spent almost a year on-loan to Sheffield Wednesday, where, in that short space of time, he scored nine goals in 17 appearances.
Although that was in 2014, Connor Wickham has failed to kick-on and continue that sort of goal contribution, largely down to the numerous injuries he has sustained.
The 25-year-old has managed just seven appearances this season, where he’s returned one goal and one assist.
Crystal Palace have some great options up-front now that Michy Batshuayi has joined the likes of Christian Benteke and Jordan Ayew, as well as Wickham, who even though now fit, could suffer from a lack of game-time.
Sheffield Wednesday would be a great option for Wickham even on a loan basis. They could offer him a lot more time on the pitch and his impact could be telling come the end of next season.
