Sheffield Wednesday haven’t exactly got off to the best of starts in the Championship this season as their promotion hopes have been slightly squashed.
Jos Luhukay currently has a pretty similar squad to the last campaign at his disposal, but this could be a problem as the season progresses. So, with the loan window still open until the end of the month, perhaps the Sheffield Wednesday boss should take a look at bringing in more quality.
The Owls enjoyed a rather successful time of things under the Dutch boss during the second half of last season, and he will be hoping that his players can rediscover some similar form in the current campaign. So, adding to his squad surely wouldn’t go amiss as promotion to the Premier League is hard to achieve.
One name that the Championship club could take a look at is a Premier League outcast that really hasn’t been given the opportunity to impress at Turf Moor in recent years, and that is Sam Vokes.
Indeed, the Englishman managed to score four goals in the last campaign and already has one to his name in Europe for the Clarets this season. But, with the likes of Chris Wood and Ashley Barnes ahead of him in the pecking order at Burnley, they may think about loaning him out before the end of the month. And, with the Owls constantly relying on set pieces and crosses into the box, Vokes would certainly thrive off the service.
Also, the Owls should take a look at another Premier League player that has previous experience in the Championship – Huddersfield Town’s Rajiv van La Parra.
The Dutchman has dropped off the pace in the Premier League as he is often left on the substitutes’ bench at the John Smith’s Stadium. Although, having shown his quality by producing a number of goals and assists in the Championship during his time at Wolverhampton Wanderers and his current club Huddersfield Town, perhaps a loan move to Hillsborough may be a possibility.
