£6.3m-rated Tottenham outcast should seek to reignite his career by moving to Stoke

Stoke City supporters in the Transfer Tavern are somewhat looking forward to the 2018/19 Championship campaign following the appointment of Gary Rowett as the club’s new manager last month.

The 44-year-old had been in charge of fellow second tier side Derby County last season and led them to a top six finish in the Championship, although they were unable to get the better of eventual play-off winners Fulham in the end of season lottery. And the former Birmingham City and Burton Albion chief decided that the outlook at Stoke was brighter than in the East Midlands, with Rowett taking over from Paul Lambert, who left his role as Potters boss following their relegation from the Premier League.

As such, there are many excited and expectant Stoke fans in the Tavern at present, several of whom are hoping to see their side make some telling signings this summer in a bid to return to the top-flight at the first time of asking.

And one man several of our resident Potters supporters are calling for is Tottenham outcast Georges-Kevin N’Koudou, with many feeling that the £6.3 million-rated winger (as per Transfermarkt) should seek to reignite his career by moving to the bet365 Stadium.

Ultimately, things haven’t worked out for the 23-year-old since his move to North London back in 2016, with the Frenchman mustering just 23 senior appearances for Mauricio Pochettino’s side, only three of which have been starts.

In fact, N’Koudou is so low down the pecking order at Spurs that he was shipped out on loan to Sean Dyche’s Burnley in the second half of last season, and he didn’t really fare much better there in managing eight games for the Clarets, in which time he failed to net or lay on an assist.

Thus, it’s clear that the 23-year-old is facing a crucial summer in terms of his career progression, and with the former France youth international having failed to prove his worth at Premier League level, a move down into the Championship could be what he needs – Stoke could be the ideal destination.

Ultimately, it is looking increasingly likely that Xherdan Shaqiri will indeed leave the club this summer amid intense interest from Premier League sides, thus likely leaving a spot in the attacking ranks for N’Koudou to come in and finally show his quality.

There’s a reason Tottenham spent a reported £11 million on the 23-year-old two years ago, but he simply hasn’t been able to show why during his time in England – a move away and fresh start at the bet365 Stadium could get the best out of him.

As such, with his Spurs prospects looking bleak, the Frenchman should seek to reignite his career by moving to Rowett’s Stoke this summer.
