Stoke City fans in the Football Transfer Tavern this evening have the champagne on ice as it has become clear they are on the verge of seeing their club confirm their first signing of the summer window.
The Potters have been pursuing the signature of Egyptian winger, Ramadan Sobhi, and now club chiefs have given the fans a huge boost that the deal will go through in the coming days.
Speaking to BBC Sport, Cheif Executive, Tony Scholes has said: “Hopefully over the next 24 to 48 hours he’ll complete a medical and we’ll tie-up all the last bits of the deal as well, but it’s all 99 per cent agreed.”
The 19-year-old currently plys his trade for Cairo based side, Al Ahly – managed by a familiar face in Martin Jol – and is someone that the powers that be at the Bet 365 Stadium are rather excited about:
“He’s regarded as a special talent in Egypt,
“To be a regular in the national side for 12 months at just 19 shows the quality of the player.”
The winger has made six appearances for his national side, since his debut in 2015, scoring on one occasion against Nigeria.
The deal, reportedly worth around £2.5m will signify Mark Hughes’ first foray into the transfer market this summer and looks set to be confirmed early next week.
