With Marko Arnautovic seemingly on the way, it’s fair to say that the Stoke City fans in the Transfer Tavern are hoping Mark Hughes is able to bring in some big players to replace the reported West Ham United target.
Indeed, the Potters propping up our bar are eager to see the club finally make some progress, after a relatively dull few seasons and reports from the Sun have intrigued the supporters this evening. They claim Stoke have made an approach to Manchester United over a potential deal for Ashley Young this summer.
Now, the idea of signing the 32-year-old a few years ago wouldn’t have impressed, though the ex-Aston Villa man has impressed after being kept on by Jose Mourinho. Handed the captaincy of the Red Devils, Young’s versatility shone through and the fans in the Tavern are hopeful a deal can be reached.
One of United’s longest serving player, Young is believed to have been the subject of an enquiry by Hughes, who reportedly believes he is the ideal replacement for Arnautovic ahead of his proposed move down to east London. While Mourinho apparently values Young’s experience, our resident Stoke fans hope they see him return to the Midlands.
