As quoted by The Stoke Sentinel, Mark Hughes has suggested that Derby may be asking for too much for ‘keeper Lee Grant – annoying our Stoke fans in the Transfer Tavern.
The Potters have been stronger in recent months after a poor start to the season and a lot of that has been down to the loan signing of the ‘keeper from the Rams.
He has been in the form of his life for the men from the Bet365 Stadium and that could even mean that Jack Butland finds it hard to get back into the side once he is fit.
Of course, a lot of that does depend on whether Grant is at the club permanently or not with Hughes a bit concerned at the way negotiations are going with the Championship side at the moment.
The former Blackburn Rovers manager said:
“We would like Lee to stay and I think Lee would love to be a part of the club.
“Obviously Derby have the upper hand in negotiation and maybe we need to come towards a bit more of a sensible conclusion.
“At the moment, it’s a little bit difficult.”
Our landlord reckons the Potters should do all they can to sign Grant in January and even thinks that they should be willing to meet the Rams’ price valuation as he has been that good a player so far this season.
