Hughes handed Stoke City injury blow

According to The Stoke Sentinel, Phil Bardsley is set to miss the next five weeks of the season through injury, with our Potters fans here in the Transfer Tavern relieved Glen Johnson has just returned from his own setback.

Indeed, the former Liverpool right-back had been out for some time given the Scotsman an opportunity for more football, but he now seems set for a considerable spell on the sidelines as Mark Hughes prepares his squad for the frantic festive period.

The Potters have found form that better represents the quality they have in their squad in recent weeks after a frankly dire start to the campaign.

They did, however, suffer a blip against Bournemouth at the weekend, a game Johnson returned in as Bardsley hobbled off, and so now they will be planning to get back on the victory trail ahead of their trip to Watford on Sunday afternoon this weekend.

Bardsley has made nine Premier League appearances up until now but will face a challenge to get back into the side as Hughes looks for consistency over the typically crucial Christmas period that he is set to miss.
