Hughes hopeful of Stoke City striker deal, offer on table (not Berahino)

For the Stoke City fans in the Transfer Tavern, there’s little the club can do wrong in the transfer market right now.

Having watched their side transition into a cosmopolitan outfit over the past few years, their £20m hunt for Saido Berahino has put the icing on the cake for much of our Potters punters, eager to see the club land a young English striker.

Further good news has come straight from club boss Mark Hughes, as reported by their official website.

‘Sparky’ has reaffirmed that he and the club are hopeful that star forward Marko Arnautovic will put pen to paper on a new deal at the Bet 365 Stadium.

The Austrian is entering the final 12 months of his deal and has been linked with a move to French giants Paris Saint-Germain, though has been offered a new deal by his current charges.

Optimistic as ever, Hughes has announced he still retains hope over the former Inter Milan winger.

“We are where we were with Marko, but we remain very hopeful of being able to keep him here,” he said on Tuesday.

“Marko knows what he has here and knows the environment that he is in, he is well liked in the dressing room and in the stands too.

“Those sort of things are important to Marko, and he understands that.

“He isn’t going to rush into any decision – clearly he has had an offer on the table from ourselves for a period of time now but his advisors want to take a look at the options for him.”

Does the Austrian owe Stoke? Would you be gutted to lose him? Let us know below….
