Our Stoke fans here in the Transfer Tavern are feeling a little downcast today with the news that Jack Butland has been ruled out for even more time through injury until the end of March.
According to The Express, a hidden stress fracture has only just been discovered in his ankle and that will now see him miss even more of this season as he recovers from that.
Butland has had a torrid time with injuries in 2016 after fracturing his ankle for England against Germany in March of this year, halting a career of what many perceive to be a hugely bright one.
Stoke signed Lee Grant on loan from Derby as back-up but he has become a very important player for the Potters this season and with this latest news, our landlord reckons they simply have to sign him on a permanent deal.
As for Butland, though, our landlord only hopes he gets fit soon and back playing as he really does have the potential of being one of the best stoppers in the division.
How big a blow is this, Stoke fans? Let us know below!
