Stoke City haven’t been able to ensure consistency under Gary Rowett this season, but they are still in with a chance of securing a play-off spot.
The Potters have one of the strongest squads in the whole of the Championship, but finding the winning formula has been a big issue so far. And, to make things worse, one of the club’s well-known players is seeking a move away, as according to Kicker (via Soccer News), Kevin Wimmer wants to secure a permanent move to Hannover 96.
Kevin Wimmer wants to extend his stay at Hannover 96 in Germany as opposed to heading back to Stoke City
The 25 year old is aware of the difficulties surrounding making the deal permanent, but he’s still eager to try and push it through.
Hannover probably wouldn’t be able to stump up the required €12 million (£9.35 million) to get the deal done, but Wimmer will likely want to go elsewhere regardless once he has made the trip back to Stoke.
Kevin Wimmer is an accomplished defender that never really had the opportunities to make it in the Premier League in North London, but he finally seems to be pulling his weight over in Germany.
Indeed, the Potters could really do with his quality at the heart of the defence at this moment in time as the likes of Ashley Williams and Bruno Martins Indi have been helpless at times.
