The Sunderland and Stoke fans who are competing against each other in a pool tournament in The Transfer Tavern this evening are discussing reports concerning a transfer target of both sides.
As reported by the Metro is reporting that the Premier League duo look set to battle it out to secure the services of Nevan Subotic, who has announced he will leave Borussia Dortmund this summer.
The Serbian defender released a statement on his Facebook page, stating that he feels the time is right to leave the Bundesliga side following an injury hit last term which saw the defender limited to just six first-team appearances.
In a statement about his future, the 28-year old said: ‘During the last year I realised that my love for the game of football in an active role is too big to just be able to see it from outside. Football is an important part of my life. I love it and I can’t be without it.
‘I am in the best age for a football player and I want to use my time to improve myself and my team every day. And I want to have the feeling I am needed and I can give everything for my club. That is what I am thinking about.
‘I do not want to earn my money on the bench, but to be a active part of the history like I was until last year. I hope you can understand that.’
Subotic has been with Dortmund since 2008 and made over 250 appearances scoring on 18 occasions for the German giants.
Both the Black Cats and the Potters have been mooted as potential landing spots for the Bundesliga winner recently and could represent a major coup for either Sam Allardyce or Mark Hughes.
Are Subotic’s injuries too big a risk?
