Over the years, the Stoke City fans who frequent the Transfer Tavern have watched their side blossom into a cosmopolitan outfit, attracting stylish names to the Potteries.
Still, the club possesses the British core that established them as a top-flight team, so imagine the distaste amongst our punters when they read of reports linking Charlie Adam to Burnley.
However, according to the Burnely Express, Potters boss Mark Hughes has quelled suggestions he could allow the Scotsman to depart.
It is was thought that Clarets chief, Sean Dyche is looking at the Scotland international to bolster his squad ahead of the new Premier League season.
The opportunity for more first-team football is apparently tempting for the former Liverpool midfielder, whose set piece ability is one of the main reasons the Championship winners are desperate to bring him to Turf Moor.
The 30 year-old only scored once last season, though ‘Sparky’ still believes Adam has a part to play i moving forward with 2 years remaining on his contract at the Britannia.
“I think there was a little bit of interest in Charlie, but we haven’t encouraged that”, stated the Welshman.
“Charlie is a part of what we are doing here moving forward, so that’s not a situation that will develop.”
