The Stoke City fans who are gathered around the jukebox in The Transfer Tavern this evening are getting excited about a potential new arrival at the Bet 365 Stadium after comments made by their assistant manager.
During an interview with Talksport, Stoke City’s assistant manager, Mark Bowen, confirmed that the club were interested in bringing Portuguese international, Nani, back to the Premier League this summer.
The winger has had an upturn in form since leaving Old Trafford after falling out of favour with Louis Van Gaal and has been one of the stars of Portugal’s EURO 2016 campaign which will see them play Wales in the semi-final later this week.
Speaking on the Alan Brazil breakfast show, Mark Bowen said: “I know there is an interest there. Valencia are a big club, but it is the draw of the Premier League.
“He is player that Mark admires a lot and he has had a very good tournament. Without giving too much away, there is an interest there and let’s see what happens.
“In my opinion, he left the Premier League far too early. He had his time at Manchester United and had been a big player for them and he seemed to drift away rather than step into another club in the Premier League.
“If he is ready to come back, then I’m sure there will be a lot of clubs interested in him.”
Spanish side Valencia are also reportedly interested in the winger who is hoping to secure a move away from Turkish side Fenerbahce, this summer.
The Stoke fans in The Tavern are delighted to be linked with Nani and would love to see him plying his trade for Mark Hughes’ side next season.
