Stoke City haven’t found their feet in the Championship just yet as they’ve only managed to secure one point from their opening two games.
Indeed, the Potters were one of the big spenders in the Championship over the course of the summer as they drafted in a number of fresh faces. And, it looks as if they’re trying to bring in even more quality, as according to reliable journalist Alan Nixon, Stoke City are checking on taking Connor Wickham on loan.
The Potters are believed to be interested in signing Connor Wickham on loan, but they could face competition from fellow Championship side Blackburn Rovers, who are also interested.
“PALACE. Wickham can go on loan for games. STOKE and BLACKBURN checking into that one. Needs action after lay off.”
The 25-year-old has not played since November 2016 due to a lengthy injury and he will be given time out on loan to regain his fitness and get back to his best.
Benik Afobe needs some support at the pinnacle of the attack for the Potters having carried the goalscoring load so far this season. And, it’s fair to say that the Premier League striker could be a quality signing as he has plenty of experience in the top-flight and is a proven goalscorer.
So, if Stoke City are going to ensure promotion to the Premier League then they’ll need to bring in Wickham to provide a consistent flow of goals.
