After Mark Hughes largely turned their season around, the Stoke City fans in the Transfer Tavern have been in good spirits of late.
While the start to their campaign has undermined their hopes of improving upon last season’s 9th placed finish, the Potters are no longer concerned about the notion of a relegation battle.
Things are going well in the Potteries right now, which is why the punters propping up the bar have been surprised to read reports emanating out of Spain.
Defender Marc Muniesa gave a recent interview to outlet Correo de Andalucía, where the former Barcelona ace was quite open about his thoughts on a move back to La Liga.
The Spaniard has found first-team appearances rather fleeting this term and has been linked with moves to Real Betis and Granada of late.
Though he scored in the recent win over Burnley, the 24-year-old has revealed the idea of moving to Betis in particular has been previously discussed.
In fact, he’s even claimed the move to Los Verdiblancos would be of interest to him at some point.
“I’m from Lloret de Mar and in my people there are many betícos friends who tell me about the club, tell me to sign for Betis”, he said.
”It has always attracted me a lot, I’ve already played there with Barça B some years ago and I was delighted with the stadium and the people.
“I’ve said it a few days ago in an interview, my intention is to leave, what happens is that now I’m playing and I’ve also scored a goal, I’m in good form.”
