Stoke City have been a mixed bag so far this season as Gary Rowett just can’t seem to rally his troops to produce consistent results.
The Potters will find it difficult to challenge for a play-off place if they don’t start ensuring consistency from here on in, with a number of sides all fighting for a limited amount of places.
One struggle for Stoke City has been getting the best out of a player that signed in the summer, Ashley Williams.
Indeed, the central defender was given his marching orders against Wigan Athletic earlier on this season and has made a number of other mistakes since joining. Sadly, the Welshman cannot be trusted at the heart of the defence for the Potters and is one of the main reasons behind their poor start to life in the Championship.
With that in mind, the Potters should think about upgrading by bringing in this star…
The central defender, who is valued at £5.4 million (by Transfermarkt), has struggled to enjoy regular minutes in Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds United side this season as he often finds himself on the substitutes’ bench.
Indeed, the Sweden international deserves to be playing regular football after a successful season last time out for the Whites and an incredible World Cup, so a move in January could be in the offing.
So, the Potters shouldn’t hesitate to swap Ashley William out of the side as he has done more bad than good this season, with Pontus Jansson providing solidity and Championship experience at the back.
