The Stoke City fans who are gathered around the jukebox in The Football Transfer Tavern, luckily we took Delilah off it last week, have just heard some exciting reports concerning Mark Hughes’ latest target.
According to reports from The Mirror (via The Stoke Sentinel) the Premier League side are preparing a £12m offer for Bayer Leverkusen defender, Kyriakos Papadopoulos.
The defender only joined Leverkusen last summer for a fee of £5.5m and went on to make 30 appearances last term during an injury affected campaign.
Mark Hughes is keen to bolster his options defensively at the club and likes the Greek international’s no nonsense approach to the game and thinks he will provide competition to both Marc Muniesa and Philipp Wollscheid next season.
Should the club get the deal completed he will become the Potters third signing of the summer following the additions of both winger Ramadan Sobhi and midfielder Joe Allen so far.
Stoke fans, what do you make of this deal? Does the defence need solidifying this summer? Let us know in the comments below…
