Stoke City’s Gary Rowett handed touchline ban

Stoke City’s Gary Rowett handed touchline ban

Stoke City have been struggling with life back in the Championship and have found it difficult to pick up results.

The Potters were considered one of the favourites to go back up to the Premier League at the start of the season, however, they have managed to pick up just four wins from their first 13 games.

Gary Rowett’s side were beaten at the weekend against Birmingham City and will meet Sheffield United at Bramall Lane, however, they will have been hit with an untimely blow ahead of the match.

According to a statement on the club’s official website, the manager has accepted an FA charge of misconduct and will serve a one-match touchline ban immediately.

Rowett, who used to manage Birmingham City, was sent off after allegedly using abusive and/or insulting and/or improper language to the referee.

He has also been fined £2,000 for the offence.

The Verdict:

The pressure is certainly starting to build at Stoke as not many would have expected their side to be in the position they are currently in at the start of the season.

Rowett’s touchline ban will have just added to his frustrating time and not being in the dugout for the trip to Bramall Lane will not help his team.

Sheffield United are one of the in-form sides in the Championship and Chris Wilder’s side will be considered even more dangerous on Tuesday as they look to bounce back from a defeat to Derby County at the weekend.
