Our Stoke fans here in the Transfer Tavern want to see their side start competing in Europe more regularly and realise that extra players are going to be needed to realise that.
The Potters are firmly a Premier League side these days and worries over relegation have certainly decreased as the seasons have gone by.
Many of their fans want to see the next step, though, and that’s being in Europe season after season.
New players are needed, then, and the groundwork ahead of the summer is apparently being done already – according to The Hamburger Morgenpost.
They are of the opinion that Stoke have sent scouts to Hamburg to run the rule over young midfielder Walace – a player who has quickly progressed in recent months.
He only joined the Bundesliga side in January and has made just a handful of appearances since but it appears he could be about to move on again.
He is a 21-year-old defensive midfielder but is capable of scoring with him already off the mark in Germany and with plenty of time to get better – he could be a good signing for Mark Hughes’ men.
