As quoted by The Mirror, Xherdan Shaqiri has revealed he harbours the ambition to play in the Champions League again with our resident Stoke fans here in the Transfer Tavern feeling suitably concerned.
The Swiss international has made himself a real fan-favourite since joining from Inter Milan with his powerful and tricky style of play.
He’s scored some cracking goals, too, that many of the game’s elite would have been proud of and that is the company he wants to share again soon, with our without the Potters.
The former Inter Milan man has already played at that level before and is evidently missing it as he approaches his peak years at the age of 25.
“At 25, it would be silly to say that I want to end my career at Stoke.
“At the moment I feel very comfortable. I have scored three goals as many as in the whole of last season.
“Stoke: super coach, super team, ninth in the Premier League. But of course I want to play Champions League again in the near future.”
The Potters are now in a far better position than they were earlier this season after yet another slow start to the campaign.
They beat Burnley comfortably last time out 2-0 at the Bet365 Stadium and face a tough test this weekend down in the capital.
They travel to Arsenal who are challenging for the title in the latest installment of a fixture that has plenty of recent history to look over prior to kick-off.
Our landlord thinks Shaqiri could be off soon, then, but what do you think Stoke fans? Let us know below!
