The Bournemouth fans are back in the Transfer Tavern, and they are hoping their side aren’t finished in the transfer market just yet.
Considering last season was only their second outing in the Premier League, Bournemouth had an unbelievable season finishing in ninth place.
Everyone in the side pulled together to get the job done and you have to respect that.
One player our landlord thinks didn’t help proceedings at times, however, was Steve Cook.
Early on in the season, Cook made two vital errors against Hull and Arsenal, where two sloppy passes resulted in a goal being conceded.
The latter especially made him question why Cook should remain in the side.
Gifting a goal against the Gunners in an already tough game is criminal regardless of whether you win, lose or draw that game. It can’t happen.
Our landlord thinks it would be a good idea to keep Cook at the club but for the time being, demote him to domestic cup ties and so called ‘easier’ league games.
There was only one man who he thinks to take the 26-year-olds place, Ryan Shawcross.
Lack of interest from other sides, however, could result in him biting the bullet and staying with the Potters so Eddie Howe should make a move for him fast.
Maybe it isn’t the big move Shawcross imagined but Bournemouth did finish above Stoke last season and with Asmir Begovic and Nathan Ake already signed to bolster the defence, the 29-year-old could be tempted.
He has Premier League experience, leadership qualities and, it just a great centre-back.
Howe should make a move whilst he still can.
