Injury comeback must start for Potter’s struggling Swansea

Injury comeback must start for Potter’s struggling Swansea

Swansea have had a mixed start to their Championship campaign. They will not want the grass to grow under their feet in the middle of the table, but they have one of the toughest fixtures of the season today.

After drawing to Nottingham Forest last weekend, and losing to Stoke midweek, they now travel to The Riverside to face high flying Middlesbrough at a very inconvenient time.

Manager Graham Potter tinkered with his side for the midweek match, probably with one eye on today’s fixture. But he must field the best squad possible to face Tony Pulis’ side. With that in mind, these TWO players must start today…

Oliver McBurnie

Scotland international Oliver McBurnie has made a blistering start to his season at the Liberty Stadium. However, Potter opted to rest the potent striker midweek.

He made an immediate impact when he came on, and almost registered an equaliser in the closing stages for The Swans. He simply has to start if Swansea are to be successful in the northeast today.

Tom Carroll

Swansea were down to the bare bones against Stoke midweek, particularly in the midfield. This was all too apparent when Potter played left back Kyle Naughton in the middle of the field.

Luckily, former Tottenham man Tom Carroll looks set to be able to play, and will be a huge boost to a team that has a sizeable injury list.

Despite the midfielder potentially lacking match fitness, it would still benefit the team if he was to start.
