Newcastle leading chase to sign Premier League outcast

Newcastle fans in the Transfer Tavern are excitedly discussing what their side could look like next season, as they anticipate a return to the Premier League.

One of the men that may join their squad is Swansea City’s Modou Barrow, with The Evening Chronicle stating that Rafael Benitez’ side lead Aston Villa in the race to sign the winger.

The Gambian international is likely to leave South Wales before the close of the transfer window as Swansea boss Paul Clement sees him as surplus to requirements, with the Swans having signed Luciano Narsingh this month but seeing their side already reaching the maximum squad size of 25.

Barrow would move to Tyneside until the end of the season but both clubs are looking to potentially include the option for a permanent deal this summer, as 25-year-old Barrow doesn’t seem to have any sort of future with the Premier League strugglers.

Our landlord believes this is one of a few deals that could involve Newcastle in the latter stages of the window, as he anticipates potential movement for Andros Townsend back to the North East.

The Toon fans here in the Tavern are pretty uninspired by the potential signing of Barrow, and don’t think a Premier League misfit is the type of player the club should be targeting.

Newcastle fans, can Barrow help you clinch promotion to the Premier League? Let us know in the comments below!
