The Swansea City supporting punters here in the Transfer Tavern have had little to shout about during this campaign so far, although their form of late under interim boss Alan Curtis, has given them cause for optimism.
A group of Swans supporting punters have been drawn to an article in the Daily Mirror which could raise their spirits further, after it emerged the club are pressing ahead with a bid for Queens Park Rangers striker Charlie Austin.
Austin is out of contract in the summer and with promotion back to the Premier League looking increasingly unlikely for the R’s, they could opt to cash in now to avoid losing him on a free at the end of the season.
The 26-year-old is a superb goalscorer and netted 18 for the R’s as they were relegated from the top flight during last season.
One punter in the Tavern is putting 50p in the pool table and thinks Austin would virtually guarantee the Swans top flight safety for another season.
Swansea fans… Would Austin keep you in the league? Is he just what the club needs? Who else would you like the club to sign?
