Swansea are set to bid for Leicester striker Leonardo Ulloa according to the Telegraph – and our regular Swansea fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern are pretty excited at this news to say the least!
The fee being mentioned is £10 million for the Argentinian, who will act as a replacement for the potential departures of Andre Ayew and Bafetimbi Gomes.
The 29-year-old was signed by Leicester for £8 million in 2014, but found his game time restricted sitting behind Jamie Vardy and Shinji Okazaki in the pecking order.
Despite this, he managed to grab 6 goals last season, with 2 of them goals coming against Swansea in Leicester’s 4-0 triumph at the King Power Stadium in April.
Leicester have just signed Ahmed Musa for £16 million, indicating Ulloa will find it harder for game time next season. However with both domestic football and the Champions League next season, Leicester are going to need strength in depth.
Swansea’s initial bid is thought of to be just a starting bid, testing Leicester’s resilience to letting Ulloa leave the King Power.
Bafetimbi Gomes was left out of Swansea’s pre-season tour in the U.S whilst Andre Ayew is in high demand after bagging 12 goals for the Swans last season.
Swansea fans, would you be happy with this signing?! An adequate replacement for Gomes and Ayew? And Leicester Fans, would you be happy to let Leonardo Ulloa leave?! Let us know in the comments below!
