Swansea defender Mike van der Hoorn turns 27 today, with the club’s official Twitter channel @SwansOfficial marking the occasion.
Will Swansea City get promoted?
HAPPY BIRTHDAY/FIJNE VERJAARDAG, MIKE!

The Dutchman came to the Liberty Stadium from Ajax three years ago and he has made more than 100 appearances for the club since, scoring six goals and featuring in every Championship match for them last season.
Van der Hoorn’s current deal at Swansea expires at the end of this season and Wales Online reported that the club opened contract talks with him in July, having already triggered a one-year extension earlier this year to keep him at the club for the current campaign.
The 27-year-old has been a calming presence at the back for Steve Cooper’s side this season – nobody else in the squad can match his average of 4.2 successful aerial duels per game, while only Joe Rodon has exceeded his match average of 4.5 clearances. [via WhoScored]
These Swansea fans on Twitter sent birthday greetings to the centre-back, with one fan even pleading for him to sign a new deal at the club:
Happy Birthday, Mike!
p.s. sign that contract x
