Our Swansea fans here in the Transfer Tavern are keen to see Paul Clement use his wide array of contacts in the game to sign new players and, as quoted by Wales Online, he looks set to do just that.
The Swans have had a torrid time this season and look set for relegation if they cannot turn things around quickly and get good players in during this window.
They’re on their third manager of the season already, after Francesco Guidolin and Bob Bradley, with Clement’s appointment and so the hope must be that he can work some magic.
Clement certainly has good contacts in the game from his time as a coach with Real Madrid and Bayern Munich and it appears it’s with the latter he could try and make an offer for one of their players.
The former Derby County manager said about potential targets:
“I haven’t decided on centre-backs here, but you can take Badstuber as an example, a German national team player who has come through the ranks at Bayern.
“He’s not playing so much at the moment because Javi Martinez, Jerome Boateng and Mats Hummels are all ahead for him.”
Badstuber would certainly be an impressive signing for the Swans given his elite-level experience and our landlord reckons if Clement could bring him in and a few others of that calibre, the club could stay up after all.
